Privacy Policy — Ruby

Effective date: September 1, 2026

Ruby (“the App”), listed on the App Store as “Ruby — Audio Guides”, is developed by Tigran Barseghyan (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the App handles and how. The short version: the App has no accounts, asks for no personal details, and never asks for your location. It does use Google Analytics for Firebase to count anonymous usage, described in section 4.

1. Location — not requested, not received

The App does not request location access at all. There is no location permission prompt, and iOS never gives the App your position.

Each guide can show the place it describes on a card with an “Open in Maps” button. Choosing a map app hands that place’s fixed coordinates — the monastery’s, not yours — to Apple Maps, Google Maps or Yandex Maps. What happens after that is governed by the privacy policy of the app you chose.

2. No account, no personal details

There is no sign-up, login, password, email field or profile. We never ask for your name, address, phone number or date of birth, and we have no database in which such a record could exist.

3. Downloading guides

The guide catalogue and the audio files are hosted on Google Firebase. When you download a guide, the App sends:

As with any internet request, Google’s servers receive your device’s IP address as a normal part of networking. We do not log it, and we do not combine it with anything else. Google’s handling is governed by the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.

Downloaded audio is stored on your device and plays offline. It is never uploaded anywhere.

4. Analytics

The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used — for example, how many people finish setup, which guides are opened, and whether a purchase succeeded or failed.

What this collects is usage and device information, not identity: an app-instance identifier generated by Firebase, device model, operating system version, coarse region, and the in-app events listed above. It does not include your name, email, contacts, photos, precise location, or the content of anything you type.

We use it only to improve the App. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to track you across other apps or websites. The App contains no advertising SDKs and no cross-app tracking, and does not use the iOS Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or present App Tracking Transparency prompts.

Deleting the App resets its app-instance identifier and ends the collection.

5. Purchases

The App offers one-time purchases only — individual guides and an “All Guides — Lifetime” unlock. There are no subscriptions.

Payment is handled entirely by Apple through your App Store account. We never receive or store your name, card details, billing address or Apple ID.

To confirm that a device is entitled to a paid guide, the App sends the cryptographically signed transaction Apple issues for that purchase to our verification service, which checks Apple’s signature before allowing the download. That record identifies the purchase and the app — not you. Apple’s handling of purchase data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

6. Feedback you choose to send

If you use the feedback screen, the text you write is uploaded to our Firebase storage so we can read it. Nothing is attached to it — no name, no email, no device identifier — so if you want a reply, include a way to reach you, and please do not include anything sensitive you would not want stored.

Feedback is write-only from the App: submissions cannot be read back, listed, changed or deleted by anyone using the App.

7. Data stored on your device

The App stores on your device only: downloaded audio, cached guide text and cover images, your interface-language choice, your playback position in each guide, which guides you own, and small interface flags such as whether setup has been completed. None of this leaves your device, and all of it is removed when you delete the App. Downloads alone can be removed at any time in Settings → Storage.

8. What we do not do

9. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal data from anyone, so no personal data from children is knowingly processed.

10. Your rights

We hold no personal data about you, so there is no account to access, correct, export or delete. Everything the App keeps is on your device and is removed by deleting the App. Purchases remain tied to your Apple Account and can be restored at any time.

11. Changes to this policy

If the App’s data practices change, we will update this policy and the effective date above before the change takes effect.
