Terms of Use

Seen from Space: Satellite Map

Effective date: 5 October 2026
Developer: Tigran Barseghyan
Contact: developer.barseghyan@gmail.com

By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Predictions, not promises

Seen from Space is provided for information and education. Everything it shows about a future pass is a prediction.

Do not use the app for navigation, aviation, marine use, surveying, emergencies, security, legal evidence, or any purpose where an error could cause damage, injury or loss.

2. What the app does

It computes when Earth-imaging satellites pass over the points you save, judges whether each pass can produce an image, and shows the publicly available Sentinel-2 images of those points.

It is not a tasking tool, not an archive search, not a live view of the Earth, and not a substitute for the operators’ own coverage tools.

3. Satellite images

The images shown in the app are Copernicus Sentinel-2 data, published by the European Union’s Copernicus programme under free, full and open terms, and read from the AWS Open Data programme. The app crops and renders them, so what you see is modified Copernicus Sentinel data.

Imagery from commercial satellites is not public, and the app never shows it.

4. Independence

Seen from Space is published by an independent developer. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a product of the European Space Agency, the European Union, NASA, USGS, NOAA, Maxar, Airbus, Planet, ICEYE, Capella or any other agency or operator named in it. Mission and satellite names belong to their owners and are used only to identify the satellites.

5. Your content

The points you save and everything attached to them remain yours and are stored on your device. The developer does not receive them. See the Privacy Policy.

6. Purchases

The app is free to download. Passes of Sentinel-2 and Landsat over one saved point, and the most recent images of that point, are free.

Seen from Space Pro unlocks all satellites, unlimited points, notifications, a longer history, the full image gallery, a larger image area, comparing dates and export. It is offered as:

The price of each is shown in the app, in your currency, before you buy.

Subscriptions renew automatically. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; the renewal is charged within the 24 hours before that period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays active until the end of the period already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

If a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless cancelled at least 24 hours before, and any unused part of the trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.

Purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple’s terms. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by the developer; request one through Apple’s refund process. Prices may change for future purchases and renewals; Apple will notify you where your consent is required.

Purchases can be restored on a new or reset device with Restore, in Settings inside the app and on the Pro screen, using the same Apple Account.

Ending Pro returns the app to its free capabilities. It never deletes the points you saved.

7. Third-party services

The app depends on services the developer does not control: public sources of orbital data (CelesTrak and the mirror tle.ivanstanojevic.me), the Sentinel-2 catalog and image archive on Amazon Web Services, Apple Maps, and the public imagery sites it links to (Copernicus Browser, NASA Worldview, USGS EarthExplorer). Any of them may change, slow down or stop. When that happens, parts of the app may show older data or no data until the service returns. A subscription pays for the app’s features, not for the availability of those services.

8. Acceptable use

Do not present anything the app shows as an official, certified or operator-confirmed source. Do not use the app to break the law where you are, including export-control and sanctions law. Do not use it to overload or interfere with the public data services it relies on.

Do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile or redistribute the app, except where that restriction is unenforceable under applicable law.

9. Licence

You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by these terms and by Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions. The app, its design and its code belong to the developer. This licence ends automatically if you do not comply with these terms.

10. No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.

The developer does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error free, that a predicted pass will occur as shown, or that an image will be available.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the app or from reliance on anything it shows.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

12. Apple

These terms are between you and the developer, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for addressing claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.

13. Changes

These terms may be updated. The effective date above changes with them and the current version appears at this address. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.

14. Where you stand

The app is published by an independent developer based in Armenia and is distributed worldwide through Apple’s App Store. Your purchase is made from Apple and is also subject to Apple’s own terms.

Nothing here removes any right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in. Where these terms and that law disagree, that law wins.
