Ruby — Audio Guide

Armenia in your ears

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 30, 2026

Ruby — Audio Guide (“the App”) is developed by Tigran Barseghyan (“we”, “us”) and is available for iPhone on the App Store and for Android on Google Play. This policy explains what information the App handles and how, on both platforms.

The short version: the App has no accounts, asks for no personal details, and never asks for your location. It uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count anonymous usage, described in section 5.

1. Location: not requested, not received

The App does not request location access, on iPhone or on Android. There is no location permission prompt, and the system never gives the App your position.

Each guide shows the place it describes on a small map. The map is loaded from Apple Maps on iPhone and from Google Maps on Android, for the place’s fixed coordinates: the monastery’s, not yours. The Open in Maps button hands those same coordinates to the map app you choose (Apple Maps, Google Maps or Yandex Maps). What happens after that is governed by the privacy policy of that map service.

2. No account, no personal details

There is no sign-up, login, password, email field or profile. We never ask for your name, address, phone number or date of birth, and we have no database in which such a record could exist.

3. Permissions

The App does not ask for access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or location on either platform.

4. Downloading guides

The guide catalogue and the audio files are hosted on Google Firebase. When you download a guide, the App sends:

As with any internet request, Google’s servers receive your device’s IP address as a normal part of networking. We do not log it, and we do not combine it with anything else. Google’s handling is governed by the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.

Downloaded audio is stored on your device and plays offline. It is never uploaded anywhere.

5. Analytics

The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used: for example, how many people finish setup, which guides are opened, and whether a purchase succeeded or failed.

What this collects is usage and device information, not identity: an app-instance identifier generated by Firebase, device model, operating system version, coarse region, and the in-app events listed above. It does not include your name, email, contacts, photos, precise location, or the content of anything you type.

We use analytics only to improve the App. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to track you across other apps or websites. The App contains no advertising and no advertising SDKs.

Deleting the App resets its app-instance identifier and ends the collection.

6. Purchases

The App offers one-time purchases only: individual guides and an “All Guides” unlock. There are no subscriptions.

Payment is handled entirely by the store: by Apple through your Apple Account on iPhone, and by Google Play through your Google account on Android. We never receive or store your name, card details, billing address, Apple Account or Google account.

To confirm that a device is entitled to a paid guide, the App sends proof of the purchase to our verification service before allowing the download:

That record identifies the purchase and the App, not you. Apple’s and Google’s handling of purchase data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.

7. Feedback you choose to send

If you use the feedback screen, the text you write is uploaded to our Firebase storage so we can read it. Nothing is attached to it: no name, no email, no device identifier. So if you want a reply, include a way to reach you, and please do not include anything sensitive you would not want stored.

Feedback is write-only from the App: submissions cannot be read back, listed, changed or deleted by anyone using the App.

8. Data stored on your device

The App stores on your device only: downloaded audio, cached guide text and cover images, your interface and guides language choices, your playback position in each guide, which guides you own, and small interface flags such as whether setup has been completed. All of it is removed when you delete the App. Downloads alone can be removed at any time in Settings → Storage.

On Android, if you use Google’s device backup, your language choices, playback positions and list of owned guides can be included in that backup, so a new phone picks up where you left off. Downloaded audio is never included.

9. What we do not do

10. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal data from anyone, so no personal data from children is knowingly processed.

11. Your rights

We hold no personal data about you, so there is no account to access, correct, export or delete. Everything the App keeps is on your device and is removed by deleting the App. Anonymous analytics records cannot be linked back to you; if you have a question about them, write to us. Purchases remain tied to your Apple Account or Google account and can be restored at any time.

12. Changes to this policy

If the App’s data practices change, we will update this policy and the effective date above before the change takes effect.
